Not sure if many of these questions are really useful but it's kinda fun to fill out. ( The How To Deal With Me meme. )
Soooo, I'm back from my week of theme park...stuff. Universal Studios is way more fun when I'm not a wussy little kid, for sure. As for Hogsmeade, it was PACKED. At one point there were lines to get into the gift stores. But generally it was pretty fun, the castle (while merely being implemented into a ride rather than its own thing) had some cool stuff to look at while waiting in line, and the Three Broomsticks actually makes a pretty decent brew, not that I have much of a palate for beer. And the butterbeer is basically the best cream soda I've ever had (I know that there are recipes floating about and will have to try one and see if I can make something as good). The rides were quite fun. We luckily found time to do pretty much everything else in the park we wanted to do. Surprisingly the Mummy coaster was probably my favorite. I mean, how could you not be laughing through the drops when there's this big voice going "PREPARE TO SACRIFICE YOUR SOOOUUULL." I wish they made more of them in the dark like that.
You know, my biggest theme park fear is actually the rides stopping rather than malfunctioning in a way that gets people hurt. I just can't handle the idea of being stuck in them for very long. I was at a Six Flags once when we saw the Batman coaster just stop in the middle of ticking the people up for the first drop, and about an hour later they were still stuck there, just a group of people hanging out probably having no idea what was going on unless somebody had a loudspeaker. I think all that happens is the machines overheat sometimes, but I would just flip out if I was stuck in one of those seats for that long. Anyway, the funny thing is, one of our rides stopped, but it was just the Spiderman ride which is just a little indoor thing...And it got kind of hilarious how many times it resumed and got stuck again and again. Finally they just left the lights on, and I could see some technician doing something in the corner, and we had to sit there for like twenty minutes just chatting with the other people in the car until they got it working again. And the...mood was kinda shot by then.
We were very amused when we kept going by this building with an attraction called TITANIC: THE EXPERIENCE. It was kind of a running joke all week that we were going to go to that just to see what it was. Shep was saying, "I seriously want to go and see if there's a simulated boat crash. Just so you can be like 'I'll never let go!' And then promptly let go of me. Just like in the movie."
We finally got our hands on a flyer and figured out it's just a dramatization with some rooms that look like different parts of the ship. Meh, I'd so much rather go to a museum than be performed at for that kind of thing.
