I meant to do an entry months ago singing my praises of The Fall and never got around to it, and since the film was released on DVD yesterday, I watched it tonight and was again both A) rendered incoherent by its meticulous postmodern gorgeousness and surprising emotional power, and B) puzzled and angered by its lackluster reviews. Don't read them. Almost everyone besides Ebert will try to tell you it doesn't have a story. IT HAS A STORY.

Step one: Get up.
Step two: Go to your nearest local video store.
Step three: Rent it.
Step four: Situate yourself in front of the largest T.V. screen that you or any of your friends own, and watch it.
Step five: Comment and tell me that I'm not crazy for thinking a movie that has been almost consensually described as an over-indulgence is in actuality one artist's dedicated love letter to the film medium that still is a story (or two) in its own right. Or, if you must, tell me how many starving families could have been fed for a month with the money it took for this movie's six-year production. (Holy fuck.)
