With my recent love of numerous smaller fandoms I'm considering signing up for [livejournal.com profile] rarewomen (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] maerhys for mentioning the comm). I'll have to do some serious perusing of the elligibles but it shouldn't be as overwhelming as Yuletide, right? If you're interested...let's see, as I'm writing this fandom/character nominations are closing about any minute now, but there's no automatic commitment in nominating and you can get some quick info on how to do that here.

Guh, I'm getting pretty obsessed with Susanne Sundfør.

A 10,000-word big bang for small fandoms!

FAQ | Rules | Artists | Authors | Beta/Cheerleader | Affiliate

A unique thing I actually like about this big bang is that, for obvious reasons, there's an understanding that artists may not be able to claim works for fandoms they're actually familiar with and authors are encouraged to possibly work with them on character descriptions, etc., so really there's no such thing as signing up for a fandom that is too small. And maybe it's just me, but I feel a lot less pressure as an author knowing that an artist may or may not have to actually read the fic.

Plus it's only a 10K BB with a pretty wide time window \o/

Yeah, a lot of you can prooobably guess what fandom I'll probably be writing for if I end up doing it XD

LOL, somebody please join. I was thinking about organizing some kind of laid-back reread event so I figured it would be a good idea to have a separate place for it in case anybody else wanted to join in. And anyway, I have reason to be optimistic on the fanworks front. Just sayin'.

I may update about Man Men later. I think. Yeah.

I'm auctioning a fanmix for [livejournal.com profile] gulf_aid_now. Yippeh.

I'm sick of this hot-ass weather. I just don't like summer most of the time. I've never understood the big deal. If I'd grown up in schools that had decent AC systems I would've been constantly complaining that we didn't get a three-month spring break instead of the summer off. Or fall. Fall is the best.

Day 18 - A song that makes you laugh
Day 19 - A song that turns you on
Day 20 - A song you've listened to after a break-up
Day 21 - A song that gives you shivers
Day 22 - A song you can't help but air-jam to

Soul Coughing-"Down to This." As nonsensical as most Soul Coughing songs tend to be there is usually a theme, and I'm pretty sure this song is about killing somebody and then stashing the stiff. Which is why the lyrics are hilarious. "Like a boiling pan of ratatouille," indeed. I love a lot of Mike Doughty's recent stuff, but I kinda miss the ridiculousness of the SC days.

So I have almost no idea who on my f-list is into RPGs but a little bird told me that [livejournal.com profile] baitandbleed really needs a James Potter. Just sayin'.

Just finished hashing out a particularly difficult/hopefully epic scene of my big bang, which I guess means I'm being productive again. I kind of want to do one of those word count bars but since I know mine's definitely gonna be longer than the minimum I don't know what to set as the goal. *shrug* Current word count is ~13590. What does it say about me that I'm going on a one-week vacation soon and I'm worried about getting behind on writing this?

I've recently realized with a sense of disillusionment that I was raised on the censored version of Ghostbusters. I figured this out because somewhere on TV Tropes was quoting these lines that are a bit dirtier than what I remember (and I remember movies I watched over and over as a kid freakishly well), and then remembered that we watched a lot of movies taped off of TV when I was growing up. Of course this is great timing, because thanks to [livejournal.com profile] swashbuckler332 I now have a copy of the DVD in my hot little hands, and should definitely watch it soon.

Pimping to all fandom writers/artists a round of Never Have I Ever [the Fandom Redux] that's going on @ [livejournal.com profile] iambickilometer's. Fun times!

Spoon has a new album, and I haven't heard it yet. This must be remedied very soon.

It's hard to believe that for the first, oh, 24 hours after Star Trek XI came out, I was bemoaning the small size of the fandom. LOLOLOLOL, I should be careful what I wish for because it has grown exponentially in the past week and it's just too much and is eating my LIFE.

And imagine my joy at discovering today...

THERE IS A MOTHERFUCKING [livejournal.com profile] ontd_startrek

YEEEESS. BRING ON THE LULZ.

Also I've been eating stupid amounts of Burger King and I finally got the Spock toy.
