The 2010 list:

+ Vulcans Don't Play Basketball and Losing My Favorite Game (Star Trek; Kirk/Uhura, Kirk/Spock, sort of pre-Spock/Kirk/Uhura)
+ How To Be Bad - for [livejournal.com profile] operation80 (Star Trek; gen)
+ We're Not Friends - for [livejournal.com profile] pilotsbigbang (Battlestar Galactica; Apollo/Starbuck) + "losing track of time"
+ In Our Nature (Book 1) - for [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang (Star Trek; gen; Kirk/Uhura, Scotty/OC)
+ commentfic-ish stuff: "I'd wage you a war" (Bella/Jacob); "animation" (Kirk/Uhura).

Overall thoughts: Last year when I did an end-of-the-year meme most of what I'd worked on was unfinished, and that definitely isn't the case this year, which is pretty cool. My total word count is something like 142K (not including WIPs), which is awesome. At least I think it's awesome.

My best story of this year: In Our Nature.

My favorite story of this year: ION. Seriously, I have a feeling this whole damn meme is gonna be about that fic, it kinda ate my brain/life for something like half the year, and I felt that the end product was more than worth it.

Story of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Ugh, this question. I haven't gotten many readers for ION so I feel like I should say that, but at the same time, there are all these complaints from people around fandom about how nobody writes fics actually developing the precedent of their OT3 relationships rather than just throwing them in bed together, but then when they get written they're never all that popular. So I'm gonna go with the fics in the "Basketball" universe.

Most popular story: "We're Not Friends," which kinda delights me. My BSG resume has always mostly consisted of unfinished fics I have lying around and it felt great to get one out there that was positively received.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Despite not being very explicit, there were parts of "We're Not Friends" people um, responded positively to; but if I wasn't me and I read my fic I believe I would have really *appreciated* Jim blindfolding Uhura with his necktie, even though that wasn't even a sex scene.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I don't think I did anything particularly shocking, heh.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: "In Our Nature" is about a situation where, if I had focused too much on how much angsting and homesickness the characters were feeling, it would've practically been the equivalent of them whining about first world problems in a direct proximity to poverty or something like that. So I basically had to strip down a lot of the usual emotional priorities of characters I was used to writing as big damn passionately loyal heroes and make them very economic with their compassion, if very dedicated to and dependent with each other at the same time, and it kind of made me love them more that I was able to see them as capable of having that balance.

Hardest story to write: ION (shooocker). I had to do some thinking about the big political picture of the mirror universe, which is the type of stuff I really suck at.

Favorite OC: My "Terranized" Romulans (+ Alel) were all pretty fun to develop; while Jill was the most important and most fleshed-out in the fic itself I could practically tell you most of their life stories, and I think Gene is my favorite.

Biggest Disappointment: My expectations were apparently quite realistic cause I can't really think of anything.

Biggest Surprise: That I managed a couple comment fics at all is pretty surprising to me.

Story With Single Sweetest Moment: I doubt this is something many readers would mention, but I liked writing that whole scene in "How To Be Bad" when Uhura goes from yelling at Kirk and smashing an ice pack onto his shiner and generally being a disgruntled big sister to kissing him on the cheek because he's stupid but sweet.

Story I haven't yet written, but intend to: I would love to eventually do a third and final Spock-POV component to the "Basketball" universe. And I fucking finally need to do that one where Spock is basically Kirk's childhood sweetheart that got away because it is my oldest Star Trek WIP, it was supposed to be my big bang this year and it just hasn't worked out. And of course I need to keep writing ION and of course I'm working on SPN fic.

Favorite Opening: "How To Be Bad," though I suspect it's not as funny as I thought it was.

Favorite Closing: "We're Not Friends."

Favorite 5 Line(s) from Anywhere:

1. "I do not see how it would be of my concern either way. Jim Kirk," the Vulcan says his name with some finality, and in the slight confusion with his own thoughts, his eyebrow goes up.

Jim crumbles in a little bit at the sight; he takes a long look at the face, with something distant and also very present in his own eyes, with the fact that he's not really looking at the man but at his body. He looks with something almost warm and familiar, and he reaches out to consternate the deep eyes even further with a touch at the shoulder. And Spock forms no protest as Kirk gives a kind of encouraging shake to him, Jim's brows rebelling sadly against the simplicity of it when he says, "Goodbye."

2. He's trying to figure out whether she's freaking out, when in a papery, two AM sort of voice, she tells him something he won't be able to remember in the morning. Maybe something about it being okay, and it only resounds like a goodbye to something else. Like the answer to that question everyone has lodged into them somewhere, the one they never ever want to be asked.

3. All the way back, because it's the most painless thing to think about, he's already wondering if this is how it's going to be. One elusive kiss after another, each one an apology for the last.

4. "I don't care if she's your left kneecap," Bones snaps. "She doesn't want you here."

5. I felt sometimes like I was full-up, brimming and busting open with so much simple and stupid love, and no one was taking it out of me; nobody wanted it, nobody knew.

Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere I Would Choose to Have Illustrated:

From Vulcans Don't Play Basketball: That surreal scene with Kirk and Uhura being all flirty and immature and hugging and kissing on the beach.

The final kiss in We're Not Friends, I mean, naturally.

From In Our Nature: Alel and Gene's reunion after the riots.
Uhura singing at the nightclub.
Jill and Jim sitting against the graffitied fence.
