I finished reading Faithful Place a couple days ago and I just have to say...

Scorcher? The next book. Is going to be about SCORCHER?

I mean, okay, I'm pretty sure Tana can't write a book I won't like and it's fair to say that he's probably a little twisted as the butt of Frank's jokes, but man. If anything I would have thought she'd use Moran, the rookie who was giving Frank all the inside info. I liked him. At least the setting of Broken Harbour sounds interesting, from what I've read.

In general I loved Faithful Place. It was missing Tana's usual dash of the surreal, but that seemed fitting with Frank's character.


I'm feeling seriously moody and insecure this week. I don't know what the hell is going on. I need to get back on a sane sleeping schedule and get more sunlight or something, lords.

If I recall correctly from a chat when FP came out, the next book WAS going to be Moran, or she thought so anyway, and then I guess Scorcher's story started telling itself. I'm a little disappointed as I didn't find either of them all that compelling, though I guess we know so little about them that they're a blank slate. Wish it was a female protag, but her prose is top-notch so I still can't wait to read it.

That's interesting, because I think she said after The Likeness she kept thinking it was going to be Sam but then it ended up being Frank. I was also thinking I'd like for her to introduce a new female character, especially if we're not seeing Cassie again soon.

Truth is I could care less about Scorcher (male, divorced, in his forties?? Not the kind of character I find appealing, heh). But I didn’t care about Frank either and I really liked Faithful Place –Tana’s prose is just soooo good, I'll read whatever she writes. (But well, if I am honest, what I really want is more Cassie&Rob pleasepleaseplease!! I am not holding my breath, though :/)

Oh girl, unhealthy sleep habits can do funny things to your head, I know that from experience ;) I really hope you feel better soon!

Can't we have more Cassie & Rob? Frank was an interesting character from the start, so probing into his past was compelling, but I'd love to return to ITW or TL characters.

I guess we'll have to have faith that she knows what she's doing!
