The current bi-weekly challenge at [livejournal.com profile] fanmix is "iPod", for which members are encouraged to do a mix of what they think would be on their favorite character's iPod. Or...tape deck or record player or whatever. Anyway, I decided a Fred and George mix would be fun.

Allow me to introduce my idea that it is not that farfetched to imagine that witches and wizards may, on occasion, have access to and enjoy Muggle music. Given that they apparently have rock bands, they've possibly borrowed a lot of pop culture from Muggles. I find it quite easy to imagine Muggle-borns crossing into the magical realm and taking rock and roll with them, possibly exposing open-minded purebloods to their favorite bands. Given their father's interest in Muggle technology, Fred and George might have eclectic access to "Muggle rock" and discover that they quite like it. And even though it's a pain in the ass converting electronics so that they work in the magical world, they find it's worth it so that they have something upbeat to listen to while they stay up until the wee hours trying to get that perfect prank spell to work, accidentally blowing stuff up and pondering that Pulp sounds a whole lot like the Weird Sisters.

3. "You Gotta Feel It". Spoon.
4. "We Used to Be Friends". The Dandy Warhols.
5. "One Time Too Many". PJ Harvey.
6. "Fall In Love With Me". Iggy Pop.
7. "Hangin' Downtown". The Replacements.
8. "Fools Gold". The Stone Roses.

SIDE B: George's Picks (download here)
1. "Golden Years". David Bowie
2. "Clap Hands (live)". Beck.
3. "Mile End". Pulp.
4. "BlueEyed Devil". Soul Coughing.
5. "Swlabr". Cream.
6. "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have ('Loaded' Remix)". Primal Scream. *
7. "Smack My Bitch Up". Prodigy.
8. "Lovecraft". The Vaselines.

Both "sides" in a zip here.

*I had to ad-lib a title for this track, because it's from a mix someone made me that I've lost the tracklist for (shucks). I madly searched Primal Scream info and managed to weakly conclude that it has the instrumentation from "Loaded" but a few lines of lyrics from "I'm Losing More...". I'm guessing it's just some mash-up that's been floating around the internet, if somebody knows what it's officially called, do correct me, please!
