My vdkapenguin f-list is kicking ass pretty fast, but you guys should take a gander at my movie quotes meme.

I can generally be pretty amused rather than offended by total wank, but I hate tw_secret with kind of a passion. People don't seem to understand the point of a secrets board; most of the stuff people submit aren't even secrets, so when somebody submits something that totally disgusts you you don't know if the person knows how embarrassing or terrible it is - (hello, SECRETS?) - or if they're just trying to slam their insulting opinion into everyone's faces, just like everybody else. I don't think I'm going to watch anymore. I'm sure they'll miss me dearly, you know. LOL.

I have realized that I have a bunch of unfinished plans for fanmixes for a variety of fandoms just sitting around and feel like I don't know where to start in getting around to posting them. I'm thinking about just working my ass off to get them all done and then having some week or so in which I post one a day and it's just a mixed bag of random subjects (and free music of course).

Dude, it's a fandom secrets community. How mature/serious can you expect that kind of thing to stay? Even in the actual PostSecret community people get really vicious and wanky and judgmental. I just enjoy the hilarity of it like a really campy movie. And GOD IT'S FUNNY. I fear the day it just gets really old and repetitive and it's not as much fun anymore.

Besides, every once in a while there'll be a secret that's very much an actual secret and redeems the whole community's existence. I don't think the girls who sent in the ones about how they were victims of rape/assault could have had their opinions heard so easily without it, and the one about the writer who has all the really violent and dirty fanfic she hasn't even put on the internet was really funny to see.

Just lighten up maaaan.

I figured this would be the response. It's not like I would expect people to not be wankers, but I'm ultimately disappointed in the lack of entertainment. I just get tired of it being 10 parts funny/interesting and 90 parts misspelled bullshit in response to other secrets. And the rape victims weren't heard. Just look at the next secret post after that one.
I'm not going to hold the LJ PostSecret community as a standard because I don't watch it. I'm surprised they allow comments at that community, cause I have to imagine the people who sent in the secrets seeing what people are saying about them when the whole point is to get support in an anonymous environment.

I feel you about tw_secret. I stopped watching it because the secrets are things we already know and I'm sick of the generalizations being thrown around to shippers. Plus, the comments can get so fucking obnoxious - I'm like, I can't believe some of these people are my friends and act like this. But whatever. Like my icon, I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS SHIT.
