I'm so weird about Supernatural lately. I liked a lot of things about the last season so I don't know why it took me sitting down and watching an episode to feel like "Oh, yeah! This my show!" So anyway, the season premiere was kinda way better than I expected.

-Crowley reminded me of Budd from Kill Bill in this episode for...pretty obscure reasons.

-Death continues to be one of the most awesome characters on the show.

-Cas had a turn-around much faster than I expected, which is good, because Cas as a rock-star god would have gotten tedious pretty fast. My squishy fanon heart wants to believe that Sam praying to Castiel kind of rolled straight to the voicemail of Castiel's inner Cas instead of being heard by dick!Cas, if you know what I mean, and that without that Cas wouldn't have come to them for help.
And for that matter, I loved that Dean was helping but not quite forgiving and anyone who thinks this doesn't make sense needs to step back and breathe a little, I don't know.

-I really hope somebody's going to be putting Sam's wall back up rather than him just gradually dealing with it. You can't build up episode after episode of "Sam's gonna go INSANE if this happens!" and then follow up on it like it's meh, obviously bad but reparable. I'm sure some of the insanity will be fun to watch, though, and I don't mean that in a sadistic way (Aww, Sam.)
On that whole topic, I'm having a hard time describing why one of the things I'm disliking is how the post-hell trauma is handled in general, because even with Dean it was almost treated like this experience that's only given its weight when it's relevant to the plot and then later on they're willing to just wave it off. Like, if they would only have Dean mention that he still often has nightmares about it or something, that would make a lot of sense to me. The guys are obviously very resilient, but it's kind of treated with this on/off switch sometimes.

Oh, yes, he does!

Like you I was happy to see the fast turnaround and the coming of a new and very frightening 'big bad' of the season. Also, agreed post-hell trauma is played for plot rather than character. I'd like to see the boys with some PTSD insomnia and nightmares even in stories where 'they were in hell' wasn't plot relevant, because yeah they've earned their PTSD screwed up psyches.

Can hardly wait until next week.

ooh thank god (or Cas, rather :P) you watched it, 'cause I just did and I'm itching to comment with someone, lol!

Crowley was *hilarious* to me - I love that demon so much! He was so terrified!

Yeah, Death is pretty much epic. Love it. I mean, he's bloody DEATH, of *course* he must be epic.

Of *course* Sam's prayer went straight to the not-insane-because-of-too-many-monster-souls Cas. Of course it did. I'm so happy he decided to put the monster souls back - I mean, better late than never (and it was so sad to see him keep trying to do good, as he felt it, and not realizing why nobody saw he was doing good. I was like, 'aw Cas, you just don't get it...').
What seemed strange to me was not Dean not forgiving - that was normal, forgiveness is not always easy, no matter how much you love the person who's done wrong. I mean, it took him a while to forgive Sam after breaking the final seal too. No, what was strange was, idk, did he seem a bit... not as upset as he probably should be, to you? Not just about Cas - about Sam's hallucinations, too. I mean, there's only so much a person can take before shutting down, but still....

As for Sam. Are we absolutely sure Lucifer *is* a hallucination 100%? Could it be that, now that Sam has the Hell memories back, the 'open-line' between angel and vessel is open? I'm not saying Lucifer could leave the cage because of it, but could it be that he can now... communicate with Sam, somehow? After all, isn't an angel supposed to always be in some kind of contact with his/her vessel (especially once they've said yes, I assume)?

phew. Sorry for the novel-length comment, but I'm really excited over the new season - I'd missed my show! :D

Sooner or later when I am more cultured I would like to make a top five list of my favorite representations of Death/reapers in fiction, and I'm sure this Death would be up there. I like how he loves all the junk food.

I kind of had the same reaction to Dean, you'd think he'd be really losing it especially about Sam. He does kind of seem like the type to get angry and make a lot of noise about things when there's something he can actually do about it...but when there's really nothing to do (as Bobby said, they don't have a "God gun") he does tend to just be bitterly resigned. Even with that, though, we've never seen him give up on Sam, and his level of freaking out over the hallucinations seemed a little suppressed. Maybe things will get more intense in the next ep, IDK.

That is an interesting and scary thought about Lucifer...Even if Lucifer isn't literally there the connection still is and he could be phoning in? Oh man D:

yep, love Death's junk food obsession. (kinda reminds me of Discworld Death with his thing for curry, lol) I also love how he's so pointedly calm.

Dean does get bitterly resigned when he feels helpless to do anything, you're right - but I still expected some shouting before the resigned phase. Ah well, I guess we'll have to wait till the next episode to see.
(and I sincerely hope we get Castiel back from the Leviathans at some point. Though it seems it'll be a blast watching Misha Collins playing the demented monsters in Cas' body, I want *Cas*, dammit! Even if he goes away and shows up only in a handful of episodes)
