ninety6tearsI'm so irritated about that last Walking Dead episode.
People do stupid shit in this show all the time, but what they had Andrea do was on a whole other level of idiotic. I say "what they had Andrea do" because it was such senseless writing that I can't really assimilate it into what I feel the character would do. They're supposed to be avoiding shooting walkers in any way they can, and I totally understand having some panic when one of them is right there, but like she's gonna open fire on one of them when three other people are right there with perfectly good weapons? One of the creators said something like, "Andrea has made a decision not to be a victim anymore." I get that, but since when is she a total idiot? Obviously, if this shit had ended up resulting in Daryl dying I would have pretty much never gotten over the stupidity of it.
I also don't appreciate Glenn's general douchiness lately. "Like OMG Lori's being so weird about being pregnant and Maggie's so MEAN for not wanting to fuck me again wahhh."
But I cracked up when Dale was like "I think you should keep that little theory to yourself."
Also a little annoyed at this point with Lori's very limited stand-by-her-man role. Even when she admits that she disagrees with some decisions Rick makes, it's all about being a supportive wife or whatever.
Daryl found the doll! No one except Shane seems to realize this isn't necessarily a good sign!
BUT I really loved the Rick and Shane talk in the woods. It was interesting to learn that they've known each other since high school (which means Shane and Lori go way back too). I need to watch out before this becomes my new favorite screwed-up OT3.
And Daryl was obviously badass and I loved Carol actually realizing that he needed to be told that what he was willing to do for other people was important.
Hey, remember how I was watching Lost? I am still watching Lost. Just slowly. I'm somewhere in season 3, which is quite better than S2. This show is after making me want to read tons of femmeslash that probably doesn't exist.
It is just not good that I have discovered the clothing of Out Of Print, because every time they come out with something in a book I love I'm gonna be all grabby-hands. Seriously if they had the Slaughterhouse-Five design in the sweatshirt style I could have easily been sucked out of eighty + dollars; as it is I am happy with the adorable Wizard of Oz one. That Pride & Prejudice design is also so pretty it makes me more tempted to actually read Jane Austen. Right, I know, blasphemy. I've just never been super-inclined.

I was prepared to hate him at his first appearance, considering what a right bastard his brother was, but Daryl surprised me and he kept on surprising me. The man is so much better than he seems; and I'm SO glad that Carol told him what she did - I think he needs someone to boost his self-worth. :)
As for Lori... pffff, I think it's because the woman is terrified that Rick will find out about her and Shane. And now that she's pregnant... whooo boy. (Also, if Shane finds out Lori is pregnant, the shit will definitely hit the fan, because I very much see him refusing to not claim the baby)
YAY for continued Lost watching!
Off to check this Out of Print thing now....

Date: 2011-11-17 01:32 am (UTC)But yeah, how awesome is Daryl this season? That last episode gave us a pretty good idea about what his relationship with his brother was like and that Merle was obviously a pretty bad influence on him.
It's going to be a MESS when everybody knows about the pregnancy. I wonder if there's any doubt that the kid is Shane's.

Date: 2011-11-17 09:54 am (UTC)And yeah, I thought Daryl's relationship with Merle (this is how you spell Merle? Never seen it written before, lol) might not have been the best, because, well, Merle. So glad Daryl's away from him if that was how'd have been were Merle around.
As for the kid... probably not, but it depends over how much time has passed since Rick arrived? We're not told how late Lori's period is.... But yeah, I'm thinking Shane.

I mean, it's brilliant and the plot and characters make it worth it, but man there are still so many seasons left that I am intimidated. And femmeslash - it must be written. The Lost slash archives are sadly lacking, but I'm sure if you wrote something (:D) they'd fill up a little!

Date: 2011-11-20 05:03 am (UTC)It seems like the longer shows go the more likely they are to get ridiculous, so I'm a bit apprehensive about Lost - I hear the series finale isn't popularly liked - but the ups and downs are fun anyway. It would be a really fun fandom to write for, but I'd have to finish the show first, I feel like, because a lot of the characters are so mysterious.

Date: 2011-11-21 05:41 am (UTC)yeahhhhhh, as soon as Daryl ate that unspecific rodent (?) and got blood all over his face I knew somebody was gonna mistake his ass for a zombie when he got back to the farm, for some contrived reason of sudden stupidity or another. Then they did it with Andrea, and I was unimpressed. Also, Glenn's one of, if not my actual, favourite character in this thing, mostly because he's always come across as one of if not the smartest person in the group, so having him derp around was also unimpressive. BASICALLY ONLY THE DARYL SCENES (and the Rick & Shane bro-talk, actually) WERE WORTH WATCHING. Hopefully tonight's episode is better.
Yay Lost! It's patchy and takes awhile to get through, but all in all is probably my favourite show ever. The femmeslash, though rare, is out there - who are you shipping? :D (also, good LORD you shouldn't have led me to Out of Print. I cannot afford that Clockwork Orange sweater, but I NEED IT.)
