RL is kind of meh. My best friend is moving a lot farther away and I will miss seeing her more often than a couple times a year. Also I am finding it harder and harder to drag myself to work these days because I'm getting so fed up with how inexplicably freezing it is at our office - I'm talking thick socks and fingerless gloves in an indoor workplace. WTF. And the supervisors complain about it so casually, like it just always has been like that. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

-While on Tumblr I frequently find myself thinking, not exactly negatively, "Man, it must be really nice and fun to give a fuck about John Green." In an act of true pettiness I caught myself looking at how many fics The Fault In Our Stars has on AO3 just to see if I needed to feel bitter (you know, as a forever frustrated book-fandomer for other things). I don't. I have it on reliable opinions that Will Grayson, Will Grayson is a good read but unless this guy is like the Shakespeare of YA fiction - and I'm sure he's not - I may tire a little of every single book blog acting like he's the best thing since feminism.

-Probably the only prevalent thing I hate about a certain niche of Trek fandom is the "OMG IS HE OKAY?! HE LOOKS SOOO SKINNY" comments I predictably see all over Chris Pine photos (which amusingly happens so often you would think people would realize that just might be closer to the default when it comes to his body type). I mean, there is the occasional person who will pretty much frankly imply that they enjoy objectifying him more when he has a little more bulk on him, and that's just being honest, but with some comments there's this very distrusting asshole part of me that just feels like I'm watching the fangirls fall over themselves in a contest to see who can be the most accepting of Chris Pine in his less skinny states, and I find that just as annoying as the SPN fans who think that Jensen Ackles is gaining too much weight (which was funny as hell to me, because I hadn't actually noticed he wasn't quite as thin now until it was pointed out to me).

-ARGH, MORE OF MY PETTINESS. I could never complain too much about any kind of activity in my teeny-tiny book fandoms but man, have I been seeing some fancasts on Tumblr lately that make me go NOOO. Even though I'm not sure I can logically make a case against the Cassie Maddox = Rose Byrne thing that I've seen in multiple places it still gives me a headache cause to me it is just so off (and in general I've tried really hard to like Rose Byrne but it isn't happening). I say this as if fancasts have any standing on movies that don't exist yet, LOL.

-The best thing about this season of Mad Men, amirite:

I still can barely stand that fandom, BTW. I can't seem to browse the Tumblr tag without seeing someone call Peggy a bitch. (No lie, I would be pretty scared of Peggy, but that's part of why I love her, especially since I never could have seen myself saying that back in S1.)

Lolllll, that's like my thought process on Benedict Cumberbatch. Having never actually read John Green, I can't comment on how good he is or isn't as a writer/artist/creative type, but I sometimes get the vague impression that a big part of his popularity comes from being a witty white dude in an industry largely dominated by women. :/

And whaaaaa, Chris Pine? I have noticed like... zero changes in his weight between Trek movies one and two? Am I just being unobservant? Like... he was pretty then? He is still pretty now? Buh?

I think he buffed up a bit more for This Means War but that's the only thing that was noticeable to me, so...IDEK

John Green is the Joss Whedon of YA fiction, basically, at this point. If he legit crapped on paper for his next book, he'd probably still hit #1 on the Times list.

Ironically I enjoyed his first few books, and Will Grayson, will grayson is a favorite but mainly for the synergy of the stories rather than his particular talent, but did not enjoy The Fault in My Stars. It felt pretty manipulative to me and I couldn't connect with either lead character.

Fandom is often excited about stuff I couldn't give two craps for though, so that's why I don't do much on tumblr but check some specific tags occasionally then peace out.

I have no thoughts about Rose Byrne. Lol. Sorry. But (surprisingly?) Broken Harbor won the LA Times award for mystery last weekend! I wonder if Gone Girl was in the running for that award?

I've heard a lot of Green's characters feel repetitive after a while, so I figure I could give just one book a try? LOL

I heard about Tana's award, that's pretty cool! And I don't know about Gone Girl, but it's been such a huge deal, I'd be kind of surprised if it wasn't in the running.

Chris Pine's weight is the topic of the day?! Wuht?! I saw one post on tumblr. Didn't realise there were many of them. Omg, who cares. O_o. Unless he's actually significantly underweight due to an eating disorder rather than that he stopped bulking at the gym of what not.

This whole Chris Pine’s weight state debate cracks me up. Oh, fandom. In the few pictures I’ve seen of him lately he looks… hot? lol Or maybe it is that I am rather partial to lean/thin vs bulky. But hey, it’s not that I can blame fangirls. I have a huge fixation with hair and yesterday I found myself screaming in consternation at the sight of Tom Hiddleston’s hair in Thor 2. It’s not exactly the same, but you know… :P

Rose Byrne as Cassie is just wrong! I don’t have anything against her and I sort of can see why someone would think of her to play Cassie, but she doesn’t work for me for some reason. I don’t have a proper formed opinion of her as an actress, but strictly physically speaking I always thought of Cassie as someone more athletic rather than skinny, and Byrne definitely falls into the latter category. IDK. (And I am pretty wary of film adaptations of books I love, but I am starting to think I wish someone would make a movie out of any of the Dublin Murder Squad books so my tiny fandom wasn’t so tiny anymore? lol).

I am halfway the first season of Mad Men, by the way. It’s not that I am hooked, but it’s weirdly compelling.

(OMG, Loki's hair...I haven't watched the teaser but I saw gifs and was like "Is it gonna be that way through the whole movie???")

MTE, Cassie has the whole gymnast build...It's not that you have to look very athletic to pull off a cop (though I guess it helps), but to me that's just the way Cassie has probably always looked. Rose Byrne is more like the type Rob would try to pick up in a bar. And I'm with you on the adaptations; I don't know how optimistic I am that they could make the movies to my liking (I sort of feel like In The Woods in particular has way more the feel/pacing of a book than what would work as a film) but I still want them in hopes that the novels will catch on a bit more.

Mad Men...I don't think I've ever quite felt totally hooked on it, but I like it a lot. Despite there being precious few characters I've been able to consistently love, I've probably liked it a bit more with each season.

I also don't care about John Green and am cool with that. I'm sure everyone is right and if I DO read his books I will weep everywhere, buuuut that's not exactly lighting a fire under me to get on it.

PEGGY AND STAAAAAAAN. who's calling her a bitch? let me at em!

It drives me crazy when people pick on Chris Pine for being thin. He had to gain 20 pounds for Star Trek Into Darkness and he actually has a lot of muscle on him, but he's just a thin guy.
