My sister made me watch a few episodes of Skins, starting with season 3 cause she thinks it has better characters than the first couple seasons. In its happier moments, it reminds me of the atmosphere I attempted to create with my high-school-kids-based-on-Peanuts-characters composite novel I wrote for a senior seminar (I am aware that one, it's absurd that I got credit for writing something like that and two, Dog Sees God exists, but it's a little too dark in my opinion), which makes watching it kind of surreal, especially since in my head I can't stop thinking that JJ=Schroeder. Though actually it didn't take me too long to compare the Freddy/JJ/Cook group to James/Remus/Sirius, and the comparison has really stuck in my head. I have a feeling it all gets way more depressing at some point, but it's also pretty damn funny at some points. Somebody explain to me why Cook is my favorite. I'm too embarrassed to even say who I ship as of yet, so let's let those opinions ferment for a while.

Thank god the seasons are short though. I feel like I no longer want to devote the time to getting into TV fandoms. If I'm not immediately addicted in the first few episodes I just give up.

2. Canon Ship: Roslin/Adama, also win
3. "If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Um. Tory/anyone I like?
4. "You are one sick puppy" Ship: Kara/Leoben
5. "I dabble a little" Ship: Starbuck/Helo
6. "It's like a car crash" Ship: *snort* Kara/Lee
7. "Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Gaius/Caprica. I like them, I just can't imagine seeking fic for it and all.
8. "Makes no canon sense but why the heck not" Ship: Anders/Natalie.
9. "Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: I don't know if there are any popular ones I outright dislike. I'm not particularly invested in Helo/Athena, I guess.

I love Skins, especially the current cast, but I never made the connection between the 3 boys and the 3 Marauders. But that could be because I found the Emily/Naomi storyline much more compelling.

I'm pretty interested in where that storyline goes. Being a twin, I'm also kind of attracted to how they handle Emily's relationship with her sister.

The relationship between Emily and Katie is interesting to watch, especially how Katie reacts to Emily stepping out of her shadow and becoming her own person. The twins episode is probably my second favorite of the season (Naomi's ep is still my fave) and I'm very interested to see where the Emily and Katie relationship goes in Series 4 after that ep.

I love season 1, especially Cassie, but season 3 still wins in my book simply because of the awesomeness that is the Emily/Naomi storyline which is arguably the best lesbian storyline in a teen series ever. Although I have to say Effy was a way more interesting character before she got thrown into the mix with Freddie, Cook and JJ.

The Freddie/Effy/Cook storyline was waaay over played. Effy was such an interesting character before them (especially when she wasn't talking!). Once the love triangle started, I was tired of Effy's character.

Emily/Naomi, JJ and Thomas were the only good things about season 3 in my mind.

Effy is still interesting outside of the whole love triangle crap, her scenes with the other girls are still fantastic. But she was more interesting before Cook and Freddie. The triangle crap makes all three characters flat and dull, especially when compared to Emily/Naomi. Emily and Naomi grew both as individuals and as a couple during the season to the point that it felt real, Freddie/Effy/Cook didn't. No character growth for them separately and I have no idea what they see in each other than sex since that is about all we get to see between any of them, unless you count the occasional longing look between Freddie and Effy.

I wouldn't say Series 3 necessarily has the better characters, I just think season 1 is kind of dull up until about the eighth episode and it's not as good as a starting point. Series 3 is actually the one with the most obvious flaws in the writing and the very best moments in 1/2 can't really compare to it, but in my opinion 1/2 have more underwhelming material at many points and 3 is more consistently entertaining. (Plus S2 was almost overly and unnecessarily depressing. S3 gets pretty dark at one point but it's balanced enough that the season is still really fun to watch overall.)

Okay, for the meme.....ST.

1. One True Pairing Ship: I give up. Spock/Kirk/Uhura.
2. Canon Ship: I don't have much to pick from here, LOL. I'm warming up to Spock/Uhura as I write them.
3. "If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Haha, Spock/Chapel. And it's unlikely that they would handle Kirk/Uhura in a way that I would like.
4. "You are one sick puppy" Ship: Anything dubious in the mirror universe.
5. "I dabble a little" Ship: Chekov/Sulu
6. "It's like a car crash" Ship: Kirk/Uhura. They're just so doomed that I can't help it.
7. "Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Kirk/Sulu. Well, this is kind of another 'I dabble a little.'
8. "Makes no canon sense but why the heck not" Ship: WHY THE HECK NOT, KIRK/SPOCK? Or if you think that makes some canon sense, McCoy/Uhura.
9. "Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: Kirk/McCoy. I just have such a hard time picturing Bones with men, IDK.

No! Bad attitude! LOL.

Logical attitude is logical, man.
I mean, the fact that the writers have basically said that they want to focus more on the Kirk&Spock relationship in the next movie, and have also implied that they might mess with Kirk/Uhura a little (I think, but I couldn't quote a direct source and there have been some stupid rumors on the subject too), kind of makes me imagine *good things* and....something a little more realistic and complicated than "Kirk moving in on his friend's girl" or "Uhura finally admitting she wants Kirk just like everybody else" (I don't even know why everybody assumes that's what the possibility of K/U is all about). I will frikkin' hate it if they go in the pretty much formulaic triangle trilogy formula, having Uhura suddenly develop feelings for Kirk and then eventually go back to Spock so that it's all just about creating drama *cringe*. But even when I think Spock/Uhura was a smart way to develop Spock in the movie, it's still kind of an arbitrary insertion of romance, and I don't know if I have much confidence in these writers in terms of writing such relationships because it just isn't handled very intricately. If romance is still focused on portraying something about the lead characters like it was in the first movie, that's another thing, but this is where I fall into the team of wanting other characters developed more.
But we both know that none of this is going to ruin the next movie for me because I don't watch Star Trek to see people kissing.

I WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU SHIP. DON'T HOLD OUT, COME ON COME ONNN
there's especially no need to be embarrassed around me, I ship EVERYONE/EVERYONE. XD

though you should definitely watch it with the original lineup. I looove season 3, but holy shit the first season was pretty much perfect and the second was pretty grand too.

Cook/JJ makes me squee to kingdom come (and like...I'm definitely not the type who looks for stuff to slash). And I thought the Cook/Pandora thing was strangely very sweet.
