Thanks to everyone who left me comments/silliness on my mope post. You guys are awesome :)

So I haven't read the book Perfume, but I really enjoyed Tom Tykwer's adaptation, and was reminded of it a lot in Sherlock Holmes when he pulls out his badass olfactory skills, and kept thinking, "Haha, yeah, but he hasn't got anything on Grenouille." And then I went and wrote a prompt for [livejournal.com profile] holmes_big_bang suggesting an AU crossover throwing him in as a villain, and one or two people are actually thinking about writing it, which has me cautiously very, VERY excited. *crossing my little fingers* Talk about something I only wish I was clever enough to write under any kind of pressure. Or like. At all.

In other news, I am psychologically disturbed, and Holmes/Adler/Watson is kicking ass and taking names on its way to OT3 status.

...Hmm. Looks like I need a Sherlock tag.

Holmes/Adler/Watson is AWESOME, I SAY

as is Perfume the book. There's a part in it (which of course I can't remember if it made it into the movie or not) where Grenouille's trying to distill the scent of ground glass that's for some reason always stuck with me, it's weird and wonderful and no other book I've ever read has brought so much attention to the olfactory sense and I love it deeply. I REALLY need to get my copy back from my book-thieving friend Nick >(

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure that's in the movie - he's arguing with the perfume maker guy who says that glass doesn't have a smell and he's like, "OF COURSE IT DOES GRRR." The thing that sticks with me is the fact that he doesn't have his own scent, because he's just that evil. And the gorgeous redheads. Maybe I should read the damn book.

And uh, *fangirls your icon*

I love that it really is a sign of Extra-Concentrated Evil. maybe I should watch the movie again, I saw it once forever ago and can't remember the beginning, but in the book a woman who's working as his wet nurse brings him to a church going "HE HAS NO SMELL IT'S TOO BIZARRE, HE'S AN EVIL CREATURE FATHER I JUST KNOW IT" and of course she's right. GOD I MISS THAT BOOK, next time I see Nick I'm seriously going to force-feed him my fist. (also, heroes want redheads, and villain protagonists do too. Everyone does, really)

and thank you indeed! I often wind up fangirling that icon myownself.

You are going to be shipping H/A/W so hard after you finish my fic. Is that vain to say? But you ARE, because I didn't even realize how awesome they are until I started it and it's not even exactly the shippiest fic ever. wtf.

Oh, it is already your fault I'm shipping it harder than ever from what I've read so far. Seriously, did I even ever say to you "I feel like the only person who wants to read the hell out of Watson/Adler" or did we both just gravitate towards it by ourselves? ALSO, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO BE DONE AND WHEN ARE YOU BETAING MY FIC. I REQUIRE CORRESPONDENCE. HURRY THE FUCK UP WITH THE FIC, OMG

Mmm. With the new Sherlock Holmes movie out, I think we'll be seeing a lot more fic. Which...yummy! Let me know if you find anything awesome, fic-wise. I'd love to read it. :D

Sure! I may in fact just do a mini rec post soon. But for now, The Curious Case of the Hot Tub Time Machine. (Yeah, the crack that's coming out of the kink meme is the best.)
