FF.NET NEEDS TO DIE.

The site has apparently been eating up almost everything that people are using as breaks (there is some way to put lines in which I haven't even figured out, a lot of people have been using asterisks or whatever). Which without a doubt compromises the quality of your work. As in, every section looks like one section without any kind of gap at all. And this is happening to everything, which means authors are having to go to a whole lot of work to re-upload stuff that's too old for them to still have a copy to edit. I was able to edit my latest fic. I'm really not sure how motivated I am to fix everything else. Jesus, that stupid site. The best you can hope for is that the readers are becoming aware of the problem.

Does support care? One person on [livejournal.com profile] ffdotnetrants recounts:

I e-mailed them and got a response last night.

A very terse, stupid response.

Me:
"It would appear ff.net has EATEN all of my section breaks.
In some fics I use asterisks, *** centered. Those are gone. A few others that use asterisks and o's in various formats seem to have stayed.

Please advise on how to fix this without having to upload EVERYTHING again.

~psycochick32"

Response:
"The site is designed to omit certain formats and fonts. Use something else.

UGH UGH UGH. Apparently this problem has come up, gone away, and come up again, which makes me seriously not want to devote the time to fixing anything.

I AM GOING TO BED.

oooh, so *that's* what's going on. I saw it, but I thought it was just a glitch for the story I was reading.

huh.

and that is what they said? gods those people are idiots!

That completely sucks! I am a nutjob for formatting and can't read a story that's all crammmmed together. Yes - it does affect the reading. I hope it is fixed soon and that tech support stops sucking.

*hugs*

That site has given me so many problems over the years that I just don't even care anymore.

Fail, ff.net. I'm not even going to bother checking the stories I have posted there.

I also hate that their formatting will not allow two spaces in a row. I always double space after a period for ease of reading, ff.net, and you reformatting everything to a single space is irritating, kthnx.

TOTALLY off topic, but the family page is northlee. Can I send Amy your other user name? Ask Sara if I can send hers, too?

I'm already a member, do not bother with this username. Um, have Amy send Sara an invite? (@ paintedpony, I guess.)

EWWWWWW I just went to check on my stuff and all my breaks are eaten up by the Pit as well D:

which isn't cool, considering I have a penchant for lots of little sections but then again I don't really care about any FF.net viewership I may have or whatever LOL

Yeah, part of me is like "UGH NO MY FICS LOOK TERRIBLE" but it is just the Pit...

Oh, the pit. I realize this is a month old, BUT I thought I'd add my two cents. I've been using zeros for my breaks and it's been working. They haven't deleted them yet.

As for editing the fics (because I have to do that too, my old fics' breakers have disappeared) can't you just copy-paste? That's what I did.

Well, the hassle is re-uploading documents they don't have saved anymore, but somebody did explain over at [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants how you can edit them without re-uploading, which I didn't know how to do :)
