Oh me, oh me, my LAPTOP WON'T TURN ON and I had to take my baby to the Apple store and they called it a poor sick thing and now I'm going to be irritable until I can get it back. This problem started last night and as usual when something like this happens, I start freaking out that my data's going to be gone (which it really shouldn't be) because I hadn't backed up any work in at least three days/being generally irritable because MY DOCUMENTS I WANT TO LOOK AT THEM URRRGHGH and it put me in such a crappy mood cause I couldn't work on anything. Pen and paper is fine for like, bursts of inspiration in the middle of classes, but when I just want to chill out and work on something I need to see all of it. I eventually grabbed a notebook and jotted some rough beginnings of an AU I really kinda wanna do but hadn't started on yet, which I may or may not find the time to keep working on once the iBook is fixed, but eh.

Speaking of which, I was unaware that Spock Prime is actually said to be about 155 during the events of Abrams' Trek, which means I was able to finally actually figure out the math of how old he is in comparison to everyone else. And if I am correct, Spock is 26 in the present. That means one year older than Kirk.
That is so much younger than I expected. Then again, I always thought Nimoy looked a bit older than Shatner before finding out not-so-much, and Quinto isn't older than Pine by many years either. I just always thought, since the guy's gonna live so damn long, wouldn't he look a bit younger than his age?

I completely understand that Ritchie is butchering the tradition of Sherlock Holmes, but really, this looks awesome:

"Twilight will mesmerize its target audience, 16-year-old girls and their grandmothers. Their mothers know all too much about boys like this."

Even if I had any reason to get defensive about the movie, Roger Ebert's review still would have cracked me up. Read it. (But it has some tiny spoilers for non-canon things that happen if you're concerned about that.) He's not scathingly negative about it. It's just that he picks up on everything that is wrong with Twilight -- which it seems the movie might only have exacerbated -- probably only halfway through it.

He makes an interesting footnote recommending Let the Right One In, which by the way, if you don't know about it, is a currently limited Swedish release about a young vampire, and looks AMAZING.
